An innovative vision of South Korean architecture at Centro León

A large audience gathered at the Centro Cultural Eduardo León Jimenes to enjoy the presentation by South Korean architect Moon Hoon.

Saturday, March 8, 2025 – Santiago de los Caballeros. Centro León hosted an engaging lecture titled “Moon Hoon. Emplazamiento: data y poesía”, delivered by renowned South Korean architect Moon Hoon, founder of the firm MOON-BAL-SSO. The event was presented in coordination with Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and Fundación LiLeón, institutions committed to the promotion of art and culture.

During the event, Moon Hoon shared his innovative vision of architecture, exploring the interrelations between this discipline and other forms of art. His unique approach offers a fresh and creative proposal that has drawn the attention of the international architectural community.

The welcome remarks were delivered by Luis Felipe Rodríguez, Cultural Programs Manager at Centro León, who thanked UNIBE and Fundación LiLeón for bringing Architect Moon’s proposal to the Santiago community gathered at the cultural venue. He also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to staying at the forefront and providing a space for creativity and research, offering activities that foster the exchange of ideas

Architect Jesús D’Alessandro, Director of the School of Architecture at UNIBE and of the Instituto de Diseño para los Trópicos at UNIBE, thanked Centro León for hosting the lecture and Fundación LiLeón for supporting Architect Moon’s visit to the Dominican Republic, connecting architecture enthusiasts with such an innovative and cutting-edge proposal.

Architect Moon’s lecture allowed attendees to learn more about his work both in South Korea and internationally, highlighting the artistic and conceptual approach present in each of his projects. Through the presentation, he demonstrated the creative process behind each proposal, sharing both the challenges he faced and the lessons learned.

The event attracted professionals, students, and architecture enthusiasts, who had the opportunity to interact directly with Moon Hoon and delve deeper into his artistic and conceptual approach.

Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) was founded in 1982, as a result of the initiative by the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana and a steering committee in the Dominican Republic, with the aim of meeting the country’s educational needs as a high-quality academic and fundamentally formative institution.
